The Biolchini branch from Rio de Janeiro
I have divided the my genealogy in two main sections: The Biolchini and dos Santos families. Although there are more surnames involved, I concentred my efforts in these two names. The dos Santos surname was a very though challenge as it is very common surname in Brazil and Portugal. However, thanks to my wife who lived in Portugal for some years, she put me in contact with some members of the portuguese league of genealogy, in Porto. I did some good progress and the results can be seen at "Nosso Funchal".
When researching for Biolchini I found a large branch of them living in US. I was expecting to find people in France and of course in Italy, but the US discovery was somehow a disappointment as I thought that Biolchini origin was solely based on Felice Biolchini, the first one that we have heard in our tree. More and more Biolchini is US groups were appearing without a common link between them with Rome branch where my family originates. I tried many times to draw a line in common, but unfortunately it seems that there are two or more unrelated branches, or at least no traceable link until now. US biolchini's seems all to have close link to Modena, Vasale and Sestola.
There is a group in Sardegna which according to Lucia Biolchini, from Vasale, started when Ciro Biolchini (1867-1937), her great-grandfather, emigrated to that island. Leone Felice(1715-1796) is Lucia's first name in her genealogy. She says that in Vesale there is a church where you can find the coat of arms of Biolchini's family. It is some kind of lion with other things that she does not remember well. One of these days I will visit that area and take some pictures and publish on this site.
In France, a small number of Biolchinis can be found mainly in the south, near Nice, Cannes, Cote D'azur. Adolphe Biolchini confirms that they are related to Roma branch. He recalls hearing talks about relatives living in Brazil. This confirms a letter sent to Alberto Biolchini, son of Achille, in 1929 from a cousin in France.
